VStar-final drive
I have a 2003 VStar classic 650 which is shaft driven. I have the common problem of worn splines on the final drive pinion due to improper lubrication of the shaft and splines. I have a final drive assembly from a Virago 535 which is suppose to have the identical internal parts. I have been told that all the parts from the 535 final drive will fit in the Vstar final drive housing. Has anyone on the forum done this? How difficult is it and does it require any special tools? Thanks

Yes
it should work
my recommendation is this
a) the 03 has the worst problem w/ the splines- id take off your back tire regularly ( maybe every 5000 miles and take a looksie..its not that hard)
b) check on ebay as the splines are sold often-
c) do a search for "C,C & D" and you'll find the v star 650 page and a link to the the Delphi Forum that houses the 650 V Star forum
these guys are awsome (im a member) and its free...and you'll learn evberything about your bike
our bikes are bullet proof, but for some reason, the splines are the buggest weakness...
