Might be trading in my Ninja....
Although I like my Ninja250 just fine and it basically does it all, I just am not experiencing any excitement with it. So I have been looking at middle of the road bikes to move up to and just waiting around for a good deal. Well, I might have found it. I have found a person who wants to get rid of thier 2002 Kawi ZR7S with 6,000 miles for a Ninja250. So I am hoping that we can do an even trade. My bike has slightly more miles but its a 2007 and his has several more years of wear an tear, so hopefully he will consider a swap free and clear. I am going to make an appointment so we can both check each others bike out and then discuss our options. I am excited about possibly moving up, but I am scared because bike is taller and heavier than Ninja. I have been reading reviews and so far the ZR7 seems to be a solid choice. I even found a site that has all kinds of accessories for it
I have to try not to get my hopes up cuz who knows, so many reasons could come up to make the deal go south. So, wish me luck!!

I take it this is a "too much bike for my first bike" kinda situations? you started out right, got the smaller easier to ride bike, rode it well, and are ready to move up to a good midsize, sounds like the other guy did the reverse, got a bike too big for him, got a bit spooked, and now wants to take the good advice he ignored when he started and get a ninja 250. situations like that are great for getting a good bike for a great price. it's all about supply and demand, ninja 250's are often very hard to find (because of all of the people getting them) and the bike he's got now likely does him no good. the power's almost all in your side.
good luck.
good luck.
Well I called the guy up so we could arrange a time where we could both look over each others bike. Well, it first took him a while to figure out which caller/responder I was (apparently I was not the only one who saw this as a great oppurtunity) I had to jog his memory with "I'm the 2007 silver 250" In which he responded, "ah yes, now I remember, well, this is really for my gf and we were actually looking for something older so she won't cry if she drops it and we want something in red or yellow." Not once did he mention HIS bike, he was more concerned that the callers had the right year or color. So he wanted to get rid of his bike with a comparable bike worth around $3K but it had to be older and of a certain color
He didn't care about mileage, upkeep, or engine integrity and basically he was letting all the callers do the work for him. What a tool. I just said, "whatever, good luck with that" and hung up. Oh well, it would have been nice if it worked out. Guess I'm going to have to upgrade the old fashion way, sell my bike during peak season to get best deal, be without a bike for awhile till end of season and then take my money and look for a seller anxious to get rid of his ride before winter storage time......sigh.
