Newbie Here
Hey Ladies!
It's so exciting to see how many women out there actually ride their own bike.
I'm just starting out -- I've got my eyes set on a V-Star Custom (650) and am taking the BRC on the 4th of October. Yay!
This is a great forum! I hope to get to know you all and get lots of tips from the veteran riders out there. I grew up on two wheels, but that was a dirt bike and I imagine there's a dramatic difference between those and a V-Star, or any other large bike.

I learned on the 650 as well. After the initial first few weeks where I felt awkward because of the weight......I got over that quick....the rest has been great. I now have over 30,000km on it.PacificShot327 wrote:Thanks! I was a little worried that I might be biting off more than I can chew with the 650.
By starting on the 650 it will save you from having to upgrade so soon (like so many do with a 250).
Have fun buying.

Oh my goodness!
Maybe it's just because I'm a female. Or whatever.
But there are certainly perks to whatever it is that made this happen today.
I'm rather reluctant to use the helmets provided by the BRC people. I'm going to need my own anyway, so I wanted to get one before the course. I've heard unpleasant stories about the ones they have (stinky, etc), so I decided to go looking for one today. Unfortunately, the helmets at the store weren't in my price range, and the one I found online wasn't in stock. The guy showing me around brought me to the Scorpion Exo-400, priced at about 185 at the store. I told him this wasn't really in my price range for today, so that I may just go elsewhere or come back later.
You know what he did?
He brought it down to $100 after tax. I couldn't believe it. Maybe it was my sweet charm, or good looks (NOT!), but whatever it was, I was sure excited. So now I have myself a good-lookin' helmet that fits perfectly and that I'm very happy with, for a wonderful price.
I was so excited that I had to share it with the rest of the ladies here.
