Exhaust pipe discoloration

I have noticed that on the driver side of my bike, the exhaust pipe as it comes from the engine is discolored. The other side is not. Does this indicate a problem? Maybe one of the carbs is tuned a little leaner? It was like this when I bought it at 361 miles. Also, can the discoloration be polished off? I already know Never-Dull doesn't work

What are the colors?

something like a gold color and starting about 6 inches away from the engine
