Need a Kawaski dup key made

#1 Unread post by flw »

Need a dup Kawaski key made of original.

Other than dealership, which is 40 plus miles each way, can other places make a duplicate of my existing key? Other bike mfg shop, some hardware stores etc...

If you know a retain chain store or if you had one made at a Honda dealer let me know and the cost of one. I have one now so I only need one spare.

Thanks for any help.

Look for an ACE/Tru Value hardware store. I've been able to get M/C keys made there...got them for a Rebel and a VLX Shadow.

Just about any lock shop or hardware store can make a duplicate key for your bike.

You may have to order a Kawasaki key blank tto fit your switch.
If they do car keys i may be close enough to a Toyota/Mazda/Honda or similar blank

My local True value hardward store does carry any blanks and won't order any because he claims he has to order a min of 5 per type. So he can't order just one.

Also I'm the only person he says that has ever asked.

So my quesiton changes to "Typically, do bike dealers carry key banks for bikes they do not sell new?"

Have you tried calling around to locksmith shops? I've been having motorcycle keys duped for years and don't remember a locksmith that didn't have blanks for most popular motorcycle brands.

No, they don't usually carry blanks but you can order one and get it cut. They are liable to be pretty expensive compared to a house or standard car key ($20.00 and up)
