Thinking of upgrading from my shadow deluxe 600 to the hyosung. It has almost double the HP and it does look like a sexy bike. Its like 5 grand less than the Ducati I want though? I should look in the gas mileage part of this site and see what kind of gas mileage people are getting. There is a 30th anniversary edition thats red and black that looks AWWEESSSSOOOOMMMEEE. I am thinking with double the HP it should be able to more than handle my wife and I on it considering how well the shadow handles my wife and I on the highway.

Heya, I think you mean the GT650. Supposedly it's the same frame and engine as the SV but I don't see it. I can see the frame resemblance to the first gen but that's about it. The engine doesn't even have the same cases or heads.
Also, the fit and finish of them is really crap. Most of the plastic parts deform to meet up and some of the guys who work in the shops that sell them say some come in with pre-stripped bolts.
I haven't heard much about their reliability, so I can't comment on that.
Oh, and the suspension would have to be adjusted to max to handle both of your weights combined on that.
Overall I'm basically saying I don't recommend it until it's been around a few more years.

In all the cycle magazines I've read the Hyosung is a pretty good bike for the money and the fuel mileage is around 46 - 50 and it produces good torque at a low RPM. The only thing is that the brakes could use some work and the suspension could use some more adjusting.

In the British magazine there was a shootout between the Ninja 250R and Hyosung GT250R and despite having a marginally better engine the Ninja still has better overall feel.

If anything a used Suzuki SV650 would be a better choice and mileage is 43 - 50MPG. The engines of the Hyosung and Suzuki are similar since they both worked together which saves Hyosung a lot of R&D but they still cut corners where Suzuki doesn't.

Now I should start getting rid of 2 years worth of bike mags...

After seeing the Hyosung in person, I'd rather pick up a lightly used SV650 instead of the Korean bike. Better fit and finish, proven reliability and an established dealer network. The big mail order companies Bike Bandit and Ron Ayers don't carry Hyosung parts.

There's also a much bigger online community with the SV650.

Wait you mean the sporty cruiser from Hyosung? The GV is the magna wanna be while the GT650R and GT650 are the Korean equivalent of Suzuki's SV series faired and non-faired.

In that case the GV650 is a fine cruiser for the money and has good power and fuel mileage is said to maintain 48 MPG. The reviewers also stated it is capable in fast sweepers but the pegs will touch down before you reach the bike's limit.

If you were near NYC instead of in Michigan I would have delivered some old magazines with the reviews of the bikes, with the plus for me being I have less magazines lying around.

They added some Night Rod styling cues to it I see. Well, what are you waiting for? :D It sounds like you really like it and being that it is winter or close to it see if the dealers will knock off $200 or more on it, considering it is a Korean brand bike with limited support in the states. Then again the engine should be similar to Suzuki's SV v-twin line since they price it pretty low meaning a lot of R&D has been done already and the same engine is found in all their 650 line up, just tuned differently.

Will the insurance increase if you get this bike considering that it is a new bike? Oh and with the expected cash coming in shouldn't that be used to feed your family?

Being in Michigan the snow will probably keep you from getting it in Feb anyhow. Looks like some more waiting time before netting yourself a new ride.
