Bike year question

I'm looking at a Kawasaki that has a manufacture date of 6/99 stamped on the frame near the headset. The title to the bike says it's a 2000. Is this bike considered a 99 or a 00?

I would expect that to be a 2000 model year.

The 2009 model year bikes have been out for several months already, and it's not 2009 yet. I'm sure most bikes manufactured in June of 2008 or later are 2009 model years. I can't imagine many bike manufacturers still manufacturing a 1999 model year bike by June of 1999 - they will have already switched production to the 2000 model year for the upcoming rollout.

Yeah, I guess I didn't think about the newer models that are always coming out prior to the end of the year. Thanks Jonnythan.

Agreed, means it was made in 99 but it's a 2000 model year bike. Or it could have been a frame for a 99 bike that ended up being used for a 2000 bike.
