#1 Post by aw58 » Wed Jan 07, 2009 10:56 am

Does anyone know if there are any saddle bag rails to fit a VN1500 D2 Classic 1997.

I have had serious difficulty getting any. The hole centres on the rails I had were 8 1/4 " which didn't fit. (Highway Hawk) purchased in the UK.

I contacted a different supplier - Mean Cycles in Aug 08 :
Hello, please send me more information about Part Number TU596309 Can you tell me the distance between the hole centres. I have a VN1500 D2 Classic and am having difficulty obtaining the correct spec supports in the UK. Do you ship to the UK? Thanks Adrian

They kindly responded:

I just double checked with the manufacturer and it will fit the 1997 Classic. Distance feom center to center holes are 8 1/4".
Hope it helps
.

Measuring the hole centres on my VN and they are:

front hole to next hole approx. 7 1/4 inches
front hole to rear hole approx. 10 1/2 inches

I contacted Kawasaki in Sept 08 and had this response ( I have deleted their names to protect the innocent).

Dear Mr Williams,

Thank you for a recent e-mail regarding your Kawasaki VN1500-D motorcycle.

We are pleased to confirm that there were no changes made during production of the VN1500-D series which would have resulted in alterations to the chrome rails running parallel on the rear fender.

It would appear that the accessories which has been provided to you are not suitable for your specific machine and would recommend that you bring this matter to the attention of the accessory manufacturer.

I hope the enclosed information will be of some assistance to you.

Yours sincerely,
