And you thought the B-King was ugly

#1 Unread post by RhadamYgg »

Gotta love it when someone else does the hard work for you.

I was searching for bikes that were uglier than the B-King. Fortunately I didn't have to search and look at dozens of pictures - the above link shows that someone else already did the hard work.

Can't say I agree with all the pics - I love the look of the Honda Rune - but some are fairly ugly and they don't even have the performance to match the B-King to justify being ugly.

Just like the magazines say the Honda DN-01 is an ugly bike. If the B-King is so ugly why is the new SV looking more like it along with the new Gladius?

I actually like the look of those boxy late 80s to early 90s sport bikes with the square tail lights and headlights and those weird front cowls.

You know, he didn't like the M109 either, but I happened to like it. And I like big bikes, but that felt a little too big for me. Just like the Victory Vision felt big... OK enormous when I sat on it at the bike show.

But you know, if someone was selling a Victory Vision for like 10K off and gave me a lot of money for my B-King - like what I'm paying for it... I'd take it. Maybe not as happily as I'd take the Gold Wing, but I wouldn't complain much.

Maybe I'm just cheap. Cheap makes ugly work better for me. No one seems to like those tail pipes on the B-King, but I think it is absolutely the coolest thing.

The headlight reminds me of a robot from one of those old Japanese Monster Movies.

To reply to the original topic name - YES. The B-king manages to make every other ugly bike look good. I can't imagine why they don't sell many of them.
Previous uglies that the B-King out classes:

Suzuki Madura (probably designed by the parent of the guy who did the B-King)

BMW R1200C cruiser - and we thought that the bar could not be set higher

BMW R1200S - with the fairing designed by the guy who designed the '82 Seca 650 Turbo

Yamaha Seca 650 Turbo - See above

I'll qualify the above remarks with my own opinion that I like the Ducati Multistrada. According to other, this says everything about MY taste.... :P

I actually liked the look of the BMW R1200C Montauk once I got to see it in person. Something like a Retro-futurist design and I think it fits well in the NYC landscape.

Madura - there were a few bikes with that banana seat kinda layout... It doesn't look much uglier than any of them.

R1200C - I think I read somewhere that BMW exited the cruiser market because of this bike. Oddly enough, I don't mind this one.

R1200S - I don't know - it kinda reminds me of the Bandit or the SV

Seca - definitely ugly... But not too much more so than my Ninja 250.

Geez--I was actually agreeing with most of the assessments until the author launched into *my* ride (BMW F800ST).

I do need to rebutt (so to speak) the comment, "could you please tell me how you're going to straddle that mustang bicycle seat all day with that weird NASCAR fuel cap sticking in the side of your butt and be able to walk straight ever again?" If the author's butt lops down to where the fuel cap is, he needs to ride really fast to the closest liposuction clinic.

Then he starts hating on what is likely to be my NEXT bike, the BMW R1200RT.

Wait a minute, I figured it out: the author's bio says, "He lives for cats, pasta and Harleys." So the problem is that all those ugly bikes don't have enough chrome. Or all those years of having his head vibrate like a bobblehead has done brain damage.

You know its funny, all that diatribe and he doesn't say what bike he owns.
