Inexpensive riding jacket that "breaths".
Is there a good, inexpensive riding jacket that you can wear even on hot days that you won’t roast in? The temp here is starting to climb a bit and the jacket I wear in the morning when it is cool is too hot in the afternoon when I go home. I’ve seen some jackets advertised that “breath” somehow but man the price is too much. I prefer leather if possible. What do you folks wear?

To get something that does the job: keeps your skin on you if you go down and works both in the early morning and warmer afternoon is gonna cost you some $. Look for a jacket with a removable liner.

In short the answer is mesh...
Yes, leather is nice. it offers excellent protection. However, it is never inexpensive, and it is rarely 'cool'. You can find cheap leather, but cheap leather is typically thin, poorly designed, shoddily assembled and does NOT offer all the protection benefits that we usually seek from leather.
In my experience leather looks nice. I like the appearance. However, I find leather is usually heavy, expensive, cold when its cool outside, and unbearably hot.
I have not worn my leather gear in years. I wear various textile jackets. I like the available 3-in-1 designs from FirstGear, Tourmaster, JoeRocket, AGV and the like. They offer a VERY cool mesh and armor outr jacket, a zip in windand water proof liner, and an additional zip in thermal liner. Add an additional polar fleece vest and these jackets will take you from 50 degrees to 95 degrees. You can find these at various retailers like Dennis Kirk, New Enough, etc. You can generally find them for about $100-150. Shop the sales clearances: I bought my wife a new AGV mesh (usually $140) for $39....
These jackets are wonderfully cool in hot weather...

You can get a joe rocket mesh for about $140. I a joe rocket honda performace mesh jacket and really love it. It was 80 here when I went to work and was 38 when I came home. I was cool and comfortable on my way to work and while I could feel the cool air on the way home, it broke the wind pretty well and I was still pretty warm.

Get a Tourmaster Draft Air, and the waterproof liner in case it rains. They also make an insulated liner, but you can just wear a sweater or fleece under the jacket if you need some insulation. It's got CE armor and reflective piping.
Or if you can do without the liner you can pick up a First Gear Mesh Tex jacket cheap here:

It also has CE armor.
