We had a supposed to be good friend take my husbands bike for a ride and this is how it came back...

And yeah my husband had no helmet when he had his wreck...We signed a waver that no medical coverage for the rider, my husband and myself...So he knew this before he went on his ride...His words when we pulled up on the wreck, he said that we would have a new bike by the end of the week, the wreck happened on 6-28-08...And we put 400.00 in it just to get it back on the road...and then my husband was ran off of the road and was just about killed...
This is my husbands wreck....

Sorry for such a long post but I need some advice, Hope it is not confusing.....The first pictures are the wreck from Justin, and then the other ones are my husband.. We spent one month and 6 surgeries later and a lot of physical therapy..He had Internal Bleeding, and shattered pelvis, and Tib/Fib break on right leg below knee, and shattered right heel, and Compund Tib/Fib on the left foot..A farmer pulled three quarters in his lane so he shifted to the other lane because no one was in the other lane, and then the farmer through it in reverse and so he had to shift into his lane again and was already locking down on the brakes not to T-Bone the farmer and he had no other choice but to hit the grass, and this is what happened to him..But we are still going to get the bike back together and ride again...I looked on ebay, and looking for some salvage yards for parts or for anybody that may have parts..Thanks for all the help.......

Looks like there has been a lot of trauma to go around--physical , emotional, & mental, and then the bike. I'd be pretty rattled, too.

It's not clear to me specifically what advice you are seeking. How to fix the bike?

Wow... ouch...
If you're looking to fix the bike, I've got some bad news for you. To make it ridable/look halfway decent again you're probably looking at as much if not more than the cost of a new bike.
Looks like
-new set of fairings
-tank
-subframe
-exhaust
-seat
-indshield
-gauges
-bars
-chances are your forks are bent
-wheels could possibly be bent
-most of the swingarm/head bearings are probably shot...

So unless you
1. Plan on street-fightering it
and/or
2. Can do all of the work yourselves
and/or
3. Have a good friend who'll do it for free
then it looks like you basically are looking into a new bike.
Also if you plan on repairing the bike I'd make sure your brake rotors are straight, I've seen a few instances where a wreck makes no marks on them but they're slightly bent and can cause the front wheel to lock up.

I'm sorry about your husband and the bike though... That really really sucks.

If nothing else I'd suggest parting it out... 1000 cc engines are really popular for going into rhinos and such down in Phoenix, plus you've got the brake system, the ECU (several hundred dollars), wheels, etc you can sell off to make much more than a salvage yard would give you for it.

I'm a little confused on the story.

So your husband wrecked it first, then it was repaired?
Then after it was fixed a friend rode it and wrecked it a 2nd time?

No our so called friend wrecked it first, and we took it to a Kawasaki Dealership and had it checked out first then put 400.00 in it and got it back on the road... Then my husband had his wreck. We have some close friends from a Kawasaki dealershhip, for help on repairing it, and we still owe alot on it, it was only bought in 9/2007, and our so called friend wrecked it in 6/28/08, and it was down in tell 9/19/08 then my husbands wreck was 9/23/2008. So we dont have much of a choice but to put it back together and try to get some enjoyment out of it. We have had our friend from the Kawasaki dealership come look at it and he said it can be fixed. We need the sub frame, and several other items. should be able to get it on the road ridable not fairings and everything but get some ride time this summer. I found the whole set of fairings for 310.00 and my cousin is a body shop repair so he can paint them for me for a little to nothing...And for advice would you go after the so called friend that wrecked it, and if so does anyone know any good law firms in KY..... :?

Seems like your friend and your hubby, between them have done a pretty thorough job on the ol' girl. She needs
a lot of TLC, that's for sure and as many tame Kwaker engineers as you can find.
Hope your old man is OK. Is that his foot?

Wow!

Good luck!

Wow, that sucks. Didn't even have it for a week after the 1st repair.
Good luck getting it fixed again.

Well, don't know anything about shops/junkyards in KY, so I'm gonna recommend eBay, sometimes you can find smokin deals on there. As far as fairings for 310, where at? That's an amazing price... I've seen bikes totalled out for SOLELY cosmetic damage because fairings are so expensive.
As far as going after the guy who wrecked it, have at 'em... If he hasn't at least tried to make right I'd go after him in small claims court (up to 10K I believe). Plus then you don't need a lawyer.

What did the repair shop guy say you needed to make it ridable? to me it looks like gauges, subframe, exhaust, headlight, and I'm not sure whether or not KY req's turn signals. Possibly new clipons too.

Having crashed my second bike, had it repaired, then discovered a minor repair that got missed when it was inspected (tail light bracket broken)- I'm not sure that I'd trust ANY amount of repair on that twice wrecked motorcycle to be 100% safe for the road.

It sucks that you still owe money on the bike, but I strongly recommend that you just bite the bullet and junk that bike. Maybe there are some salvageable parts that could be ebay'd but I'm not sure it would be worth the time and effort (or risk) of repairing.

What I'm hearing is that you did not have comprehensive insurance on a motorcycle that you'd taken out a loan on?

Yeah that was the compound fracture of the Tib/Fib on the left foot. Now he has three plates and about 1 1/2 gap with no bone. They are hoping it will close on its own. If not he has to have bone off his pelvis and into his left leg. So yeah they are wanting to do two more surgery's and he is just wanting to get it back on the road. We went out and started breaking down the bike and seeing how much TLC it is going to need....
