1984 HONDA NIGHTHAWK 700SC, MUST KEEP AT FULL CHOKE
I HAVE A 84' NIGHTHAWK 700, THE GUY I GOT IT FROM TOLD ME IT'S BEEN SITTING UP FOR A WHILE. I HAD THE CARBS CLEANED, AND THEN RAN A FEW TANKS OF HIGH OCTANE GAS IN IT. IT SEEMS THAT IT WAS RUNNING A LITTLE BETTER EACH TIME I TOOK IT OUT, BUT NOW IT SEEMS TO HAVE PLAINED OFF. I HAVE TO KEEP THE CHOKE OPEN TO TAKE OFF, WHICH KEEPS THE RPM'S HIGH. IF I CLOSE THE CHOKE UNTIL THE RPM'S DROP TO 1000, IT WILL RUN, BUT IF I TRY TO TAKE OFF IN 1ST GEAR IT KILLS. ALSO WHILE RUNNING IT WITH THE CHOKE OPEN LIKE THAT, I NOTICED A LITTLE WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST (MORE FROM THE RIGHT PIPE THAN THE LEFT). I CAN RIDE IT AS LONG AS I KEEP THE CHOKE OPEN AROUND FIRST GEAR, AFTER THAT I CAN CLOSE THE CHOKE IN THE OTHER GEARS. I WOULD LIKE ANY INFO ON WHAT MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, BECAUSE I KNOW IT CAN'T BE GOOD FOR THE BIKE TO RUN IT WITH AN OPEN CHOKE ALL OF THE TIME. THANK YOU FOR ANY INPUT.

Howdy there Birdman. How you doing. It is considered to be bad form to type all in capitals on a forum. it indicates that you're yelling at everyone.
It sounds like you may have a leak in the intake somewhere. Try spraying WD-40 on the rubbers in between the carburetors and the engine.

People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.
