I've started reading Shop Class as Soulcraft. It's a great book! I was wondering if anybody else here has read it? What were your thoughts about it?

For those of you that haven't heard of the book it's about the value of working with your hands. The guy who wrote it worked at Think Tank in Washington and now fixes Motorcycles for a living. Here is an NPG Interview.

If you want to buy the book Overstock seems to have the best price I have been able to find.

I listened to it as an unabridged audiobook. I could not have finished it if I'd actually "read" it.

I wasn't that impressed. He spent too much time including details from this study or that study in the body of the work... much of which could have been included in an appendix. I really liked the anecdotes, however.

As I get more into, I like what he's saying, but it's not well written. I think the interview is interesting.
