Really want to get my hands on a new vfr

#1 Unread post by sapaul »

Mate of mine rang me and told me that he got the chance to ride the new viffer 1200, raved like crazy and could not believe a shaftie could move so well.

AAARRRGGGHHHH gonna have to put some effort into getting a ride on this bike.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Motorcycle Consumer News magazine did a pretty positive write-up in their April issue. About their only negative was the price, and lack of extras (luggage, etc.) for that price. I don't have the mag here at work, but remember it tested 0-60 in 2.7 seconds.

Still think it's mfugly, although supposed to be a helluva bike.

The incarnation that ended in '97 was the best looking VFR(one of the most gorgeous bikes of alltime) ever. Each succeeding VFR got uglier and uglier IMO. I had a hard time deciding between getting the stunning looking red '97 or waiting for the much less pretty(but better bike) '98. I ended up getting the first '98 my dealer got.

If anyone has ridden this bike, have you tried the auto-electronic shifting manual ?? What's it like? I'm sure it can shift better than me but I like the primitive feel of clutching... Was it weird or do you adapt to it quickly?

Agreed but I am partial to the silver:

I want to look at one but they appear horrible compared with previous models. What's up with the 4.9 gal tank? This could have been better...

4.9 gallon tank? didn't the preceding model have a 7 gallon tank?

On the bright side it should drop the price on used interceptors by a lot.
