New to the forum - Hi

#1 Unread post by pappy1398 »

Well, I'm 38 yrs old and bought my first bike this spring. It's a 2005 Honda Shadow Aero. I love it. I have the biking bug bad. I have already put 5500 miles on it. In fact I plan on riding it from Iowa to Seattle this august. My wife thinks I'm nuts.

Just thought I'd introduce myself.

Just tell her you're having your midlife crisis a few years early. :)

And welcome to the forum!

Well, you bought the perfect bike for putting a cr@p load of worry-free miles on! But I'm surprised you still have the stock seat! It's amazing how much further you can ride in one day with the right aftermarket seat. I rode from Columbus, Ohio to Chicago on my NightHawk 700SC equipped with a Corbin saddle, and I replaced my Meanie's stocker with a Mustang unit and managed a 13-hour ride a couple months ago without any soreness.

Just a thought.

Nice looking bike - might be what I hope to get in a few months. I really like a lot of the honda cruisers. Welcome to the boards - you'll like it here.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
Yeah, my seat is a bit uncomfortable but I just don't have the funds to upgrade my seat right now. I'm going to buy one of those wood bead seat pads for now, hope that helps.

Welcome Pappy

If your heading out to Seattle make sure you come through the Northern Cascades.. I-20, Washington's best motorcycle ride. It will come out a little north of Seattle but well worth the extra distance. This road is often referred to as the American Alps!
