Speedo problem...
Just want to have your input on this one...
I got my new '09 SV650. I was following my gf and thought she was driving fast. My speedo was reading 117, while she claims her's was around 105-110km/h.
Is it possible the speedo works but reads the wrong speed ??
Thanks for your input

Re: Speedo problem...
Yes it's possible. Depending on your country there will be laws regarding how much a speedo is allowed to be out by.
For example if it's 10%, that means if you are caught speeding 10% over the speed limit you theoretically wouldn't get a ticket.
I am not an expert on this though...

For reference my 2007 Suzuki V-Strom 650 was 8% out (optimistic) in it's speeds.

Re: Speedo problem...
Every bike I've ever owned has been out on the speedo, by at least 10%. A nature of the beast. I would be more worried about the odometer being out on a new bike though, if it matches the speedo in inaccuracy, your warranty will be over sooner.....

You shouldn't wear a Speedo while riding anyway.

Re: Speedo problem...
All of my bikes have been optimistic about their speeds. I'd rather them be glass half full then glass half empty that's for sure
