Picked up a gig for World Cup

#1 Unread post by sapaul »

Not to make you jealous or anything, but seeing as I am a modest soul, I thought I would share, (truth is, I am rather excited )

radio station has commissioned us to ride around JHB and report in, live and sound bytes, for the traffic conditions around the stadiums and game parks. We get branded helmets and jackets and a DL 650 for 5 weeks. Some crappy shifts but hey at least I can say I had a part and make some much needed mooley too. :D

Hope there is no terrorists coming

That sounds awesome, grats! But does that mean you can't watch any of the action (football wise)?

Pictures or it never happened. Just like the time that I flew Obama from the White House to Andrews Air Force Base.

We thought about not seeing the games, but we are covering the game parks too, thousand of hooligans and big screens, could be good  Must admit, the country is strating to warm up to it now. The teams arrive this week and there is going to be lots of media hype. Alberton, where I stay is hosting Mexico OLA !!!!!

Sounds like a fun gig. I'd love to do it too as long as I'm not forced to watch any of the games. (I'm sure that will open a can of worms)

Sho, other than the fan parks we have traffic free zones around all the stadiums, so could not get in if we tried, but the fan parks are a different story. I think that is where the real action will be.

Enjoy yourselves! I remember when I was in Costa Rica during the World Cup in Korea??? I couldn't imagine being in the same country much less the same city. That'd be insane!

Are you going down to cape town to see the games down there? From what I heard Johannasburg is only hosting the first and last games.
