I took a few days to run up the coast - just wanted to see the ocean cause it'd been a while.
This morning there was an insane fog. Geared up for rain and headed home. The fog was with me for most of the three hours to the ferry - and when I got back to my bike after the ferry, the bike was dry but looked like it was covered in chalk. Assume that's a coating of sea salt. Ugh.
Any concerns, should I just hose it down when I get home. I figure those that live by the sea get this haze all the time, so no biggie, but looking for suggestions when I get home on cleaning it up.
Thx

Yes a good rinse, then a good wash with soap, then a thorough rinse in every nook and cranny. I would then finish up with a coat of wax.

Salt becomes more corrosive as the temperature rises, so at minimum rinse it off with fresh water.

It does not take long for salt to corrode the chrome. I experienced that on my ride down the Oregon coast. Wash the bike and then use some good chrome polish. It's hard work to get the pitting to go away.

Bikes in the UK are subject to salt when ridden during the winter (they salt the winter roads). Bikes that are not properly washed after riding get pitted very quickly. Best to do a complete wash in every nook and cranny as quickly as possible anytime your bike comes in contact with salt.
