The guy said it needs a carb flush and new battery and rubber.

I can't afford to pay a shop to do it, I'll be doing as much of it as I can myself and will need help with that.
It's my first bike.

Carb flush... that's running a product like Seafoam or any other carb/fuel injector cleaner in your gas. It's preferred that you remove the carbs and thoroughly clean them. For tires I'd go with Bridgestone S-11 Spitfires. Not the cheapest but they're a good overall tire.

The large black box on your head looks good with the shorts, sandals and sox.

I watched a utube video of the carb disassembly - it look's complicated.

Not sure I can pull something like that off but willing to give it the old college try.

Buddy suggested using an auxiliary fuel pump and ether just to get it running on a mix of 1/3 Seafoam/gas, then kill it, let it sit overnight, drain it, refill with clean gas and go.

John - what do you think of that idea?

Does the bike start and run? Even if it run like crap you can try Seafoam or some other cleaner. But if it doesn't run, I think you'll have carb cleaning in your future.

I'd run a couple of tanks with Seafoam added through the engine and see how she runs. If it starts you're half way through the battle. Don't run the bike with old dry tires on it, it's a sure fire way to go down in a corner or on hard braking. Check the rubber on the engine as well, if it's not cracked you might get away with some conditioner to make it a fare bit more economical for you.

Oh by the way, HAPPY BIKE DAY!!!!!

I turned it over but no, it didn't start - I'm giving it a carb flush and stuff.

Problems with the carb flush - the vacuum assemblies wont come out.
The manual gives the impression they just slide out - but they don't.
How do I get them out?
