I'll reserve judgment on this one but it does look like there is a lot of plastic.....

Whoah. Ducati don't often get it wrong with all things styling related, but I guess a mistake every coupla years is understandable.

I think it's something to compete with the HD Night Rod and maybe the Yamaha MT-01. Muscle bikes.

Yeah, I guess they need to have a bike in new niches if they want to expand. It just seems that if you're picking a bike for riding (as opposed to picking a bike based on a certain "look"), Ducati seems to have so many better options to the Diavel within its own range of bikes; a Monster or Streetfighter is prettier and is likely to handle better. The Sport Classics look more, er, classic. For longish rides/touring (or if you need pillion space), a Multistrada would be more comfortable (and versatile).

Two words: Ducati Indiana.

You think they would have learned from their mistake the first time around.

It looks like it might be the B-King of Ducati line up. Which is a shame, the B-King was a much better bike than it looked.

Just to compare, the Porsche Cayenne, another - uh - expansion into an unfamiliar niche, is the best selling model in Porsche's range, and its profits help stabilize the company and fund R&D for their sports cars. Hopefully Ducati will be able to use the Diavel in the same way. Heck, maybe it'll do for the company what the Ducati Apollo was meant to do.
