Didn't want the "Garmin answer" which is why I posted it here. For those who have a Garmin with the ability to use the add on device for FM traffic avoidance/detection , see http://www8.garmin.com/traffic/
They now decribe it in different terms than just six months ago.
Used to be just FM broadcast on sideband of RF. Now the state the following:
◦Probe data from millions of Garmin owners
◦Probe data from millions of cellular phone owners
◦Incident reports from worldwide partners
◦Radio feeds of live information
◦News stations across the globe
◦Historic traffic data from NAVTEQ Traffic Supply
◦Historic traffic data from Garmin owners
◦Fixed traffic sensors on major roads giving 99.9% accuracy of traffic reports
I understand it does what it did before but what about this data from other Garmin and cell phone users, is this a new ability or improved or just more marketing terms for the same old product?
