Hello from Illinois

#1 Unread post by rhino65 »

Another newbie here. Nice forum. Seems to be lots of helpful people here. I hav'nt rode bikes for about 26 years. Been ridin atv's last 25 years. My 46 yr. old body is finally ready for smooth pavement. Last bike I had was a 1985 650 Nighthawk. Been lookin around for last couple months and finally found a nice 00' Yamaha V star 650 with low miles last weekend. Trimmed out nice with many chrome acc. saddle bags, windshield, backrest. Did'nt buy it for any long cruising just mainly back and forth to work and local rides. Figured better start out with something decent and cheap for beginner then in a year or so get a big cruiser. These cruisers take a bit of gettin use to from the mid 80's bikes I had. at least they had CENTER STANDS!!! Anyway, like the forum and plan on bein around awhile.

Howdy Brian, and welcome to the forum. Let's see a picture of your bike.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Rhino, totally get the complaint about the lack of center stands on modern cruisers. My '84 Magna had a centerstand, and it was bloodly useful for oil changes, clutch adjustments and just washing the damn thing. How the hell are you supposed to wax and buff the left front curve of your tank when the damn handlebars are crowding your handspace!?

Welcome to the forums!
