what a tool i am. i was parked in a lot with alot of other bikes saturday afternoon. the day was done and i got on the bike as well as the girlfriend to head out of the lot. there were probably about 7 or 8 people around the lot fairly close. well i did something i was worried about doing, i started driving w/out removing the damn front disc brake lock. bike jerked forward and went down to the left. next thing i know my left foot as well as my girlfriend's are both on the ground as i stand there stupified. we both got off and a guy came over and says "it happens to the best of us" and helped me pick the leaning bike up. it didnt hit the ground but i did manage to bend the left footpeg and barely scratch the plastic chrome side cover.
funny thing is i lost my orange reminder cable about 2 months ago. as soon as i left the lot after this stupid incident i parked next to the bike shop and walked right in and bought another one. what an embarassment it was when i heard that noise and felt it . it coulda been so much worse, i was going slow so i was lucky i guess. sucks.
live and learn. not fun learning the hard way. of course it had to happen in a lot with alot of bikes/bikers around, luck of the damn irish!!!!

yeah those are the worst...i almost drove off with my bike chained to a fence last night...i was in gear and my buddy tapped my shoulder...haha...its a good thing we have friends.
Same thing happened to me a few months ago. I was able to hold on to the bike and layed it down very gently. The only thing that happen to is was the clutch lever moved a bit. I put it back in place as soon as I got home.
It happened as I was leaving work. I was leaving a little late, so the lot was pretty empty. Only one guy coming out of the office. He sees me struggling to to pick up the bike and asked if I wanted help. Pretty dumb question, off course I wanted help. My bike weighs close to 600 pounds, so it's not easy to pick up by myself. With his help it was very easy to lift it.
One other co-worker, that's also a biker saw me looking at the bike after we had lifted it. He was still at work and asked me the next day if anything was wrong with my bike, he didn't see the incident. When I told him what happened he told that it's also happened to him a few times. It happens to the best of us.
I have a Kuryakyn lock that comes with an alert light that's magnetic and you can mount in a visible place on the bike. Ever since that incident, if I use the lock, I also use the alert light. I didn't have it on the day I dropped it. I now put it between the speedometer and nuetral light/turn signal/highbeam indicator. I cannot miss it there. It has a flashing red light.
Glad that nothing too serious happened to your bike. It doesn't take much to damage it, they are very heavy.
Well, staying in the same theme but a different vehicle, I had my skidoo tip over with my wife on the back in the middle of a small town once as we stopped for a bite on a poker run. thing rolled right over off of a 10 inch snow bank (still trying to figure it out) happened to have a group of 4th graders walking by at the time... they had a pretty high pitched laugh to em, I suppose if I made a 8 year old laugh and got a smile, it was worth it...

yup im back up already. turns out the engine cover wasnt even scratched but just dirty since i finally got around to washing it and my dad was able to bend the footpeg back with some machine at work and its now as straight as it was in the first place so again, i was lucky.

I usualy park on sidewalks(whenever possible), one day I was leaving the ato parts store (getting oil). I back the bike off of the side walk, realize I left the side stand down as the back wheel goes off the sidewalk and the sidestand hits the conrete and throws the bike hard to the right. I managed to hold it off the ground, but man did I feel like a tool.

Uuum if it's confesion time I used to put my RT on the centre stand. Getting back on I would sit on the bike and then push it of the stand, one day forgot all about the disk lock, pushed the bike forward and of course fell over. Do I know what a prat is? Yeah ME.
