cafe Mirrors

So,
I got the clubman handlebars, removed the rear fender and fabbed a small tray to hold the license plate and a small taillight, so more of the rear tyre can be seen.
Now... the next thing to tackle are the mirrors. I still have the stock yamaha mirrors, but they dont really go with the handlbars :- too "vertical"

Ideally the end-mirror like what mysta2 has on his bike are good, but then I'd like mirrors on both sides, especially with the number of morons that sneak up and pass me on the right. Any suggestions/linx ??

I was thinking about cutting up the current mirror stalks, shortening them, and giving it more of an angle, so the mirrors are lower and swept back.

I still haven't got my bars yet. Should be here early this week.

I have Napolean bar-end mirrors on my bike and they are awesome. Not only do they look better, but they work much better than stock. Instead of a view of my elbows, I can actually see beside and behind me!

They look better with just one, however, as the handle bars look really wide with two on. I put the right one on if I'm going to be on 4 lane highways.

I got them from mikesxs. While Im not going for the cafe racer look (still have my original side covers on, and the large turn signals), Im still getting rid of what I think is the antiquated look. Next is the seat that has to be dealt with..

I got mine at my local Cycle Gear for somewhere around $12, and I got what I paid for. it's a bit distorted but it doesn't actually matter since it vibrates so much. Yeah a right side would be nice... I just couldn't bring myself to do that to my bike.

No insult intended here , but please do not make the same mistake I made on my Yamaha Virago , remember that the right hand mirror has reversed threads . I sheared mine off . Now my brother-in-law owns the bike and has to get a reverse easy out to fix it ......... Oops..........

Wouldn't that be the left mirror (as viewed while sitting on the bike)? If the right hand mirror had traditional threads, and the left reversed...the wind would blow each mirror tighter...which is the point.

Incidentally, a Dremel with a cutting disc installed will easily slot the end of the mirror shaft so he can back it out with a flat-head screwdriver. Unless, of course, it sheared-off flush or countersunk.

Aye I know! But I doubt that would make a difference for bar-end mirrors.

FYI, there is a bar end mirror intended for bicycles c alled third eye. however... they are constructed to have the same field of view angle as automotive mirrors. made out of glass with a reflective aluminiized backing. 3in diameter

apparently a few sport bike guys have put them on theier bikes and are quite happy about it. they seem to look OK mounted on both sides, and are compact enough not to give the mickey mouse effect. I'll go a round some bike shops and check them out. They're about the same as a lot of bar end mirrors about $12 apiece.

Those mirrors look pretty cool. The only problem I see is that they are so low that you'd have to move your head quite a bit to use them. Probably worth the $12 to try them though.

The Napolean mirrors I have were $29 Us ea. but well worth it. The quality is good and they are rubber mounted. They also have detents and swing out of the way for narrow spaces.

How does the riding position feel with the new bars?

new bars are pretty good. its quite comfortable, I commute everyday on my bike, with a backpack, after 4 days I have no complaints yet. I still have the stock seat though, dont knwo if thata makes a difference or not.
