Engine stalls
My friend has a new 2005 Ninja 250 he bought it used and it has only 200 miles on it. He's been riding it for about two week wen suddenly the motorcycle would die for no reason. When we took it to the dealer they said that the carb was dirty and needed to be cleaned. It worked fine after that but the motorcycle began having the same problem again. When the bike shuts down it won't start up again unless you give it a lot of gas but when you let go of the throttle the bike shuts down. Any guesses as to what it might be?

Dirty carbs after 200 miles !?!?!?!?!
Musta bought low quality gas. Or gas from the bottom of the tank.
Try draining the tank and putting new gas in. If the gas is dirty, you will probably ned to have the carbs cleaned again.

does it die after a predictable amount of time... is the gas cap vent bad/plugged. If it tries to die or wont start after it dies pop the cap open and try it.

Did we check the petcock? It'll stop running after about 3 blocks if it's set to the "off" position.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

This is the exact problem I have been experiencing with my '88 Ninja 600(see thread: viewtopic.php?t=5988).
I had the carbs cleaned after it set up all winter without cranking it (it would not crank in the spring).. it ran fine for a couple months, then started having problems just as before.. I resurfaced the tank to make sure it wasn't rust, switched filter and lines.. ran fine then out on the hwy, it dies!
It will be until this w/end b4 I can try switching the petcock, or rebuilding it.. any help with this problem from people that experienced the same and fixed this would be great! And as always, TIA!!
