Honestly - I don't think anyone would give it a second look. I'm sure its a great new rider ride, otherwise they wouldn't have been making nearly the same bike for 20± years. Does that make it cool? Nope....

Well, that was my morning giggle. Honestly, Mr TMW Mike, sir, we need a "meh" option for these polls. This Suzuki is a solid, well built and lightweight staple in the diet of motorcycle courses and newbie riders, but it hardly raises anyone's pulse rate in love or hate. I'll abstain from voting on this one, as I don't feel it deserves a "cool" or "awesome" and definitely not an "uncool" or "fail".

Ok, I agree that on its own, this bike is pretty meh. But I can't help thinking of it (and bikes like it) in a nostalgic context. I learned on bikes likes this, not this exact model, but on a vaguely similar 250cc Honda Rebel. If you're, say, 17 or 18 years old and managed to scrape up the dough to buy a 10 year old V-Star, I'd imagine (or hope) most people your age would think that's incredibly cool. And bikes like these bring in new riders to refresh and invigorate our community of (often) old farts. That's pretty cool in my book.
