Freaked the mom out, although I will be solving that by moving out and being financially independent after next week (40 hrs a week working minimum? Wohoo!).
I've been reading about and looking at bikes for a few months now, and am anxious to get everything else in order to start riding.
Thanks for the recommendations guys. Of course, after browsing your super forum I figured that out already. Got basic gear on the way and no riding outside of my small private road till msf. Can't wait!

thats the same strategy I'm taking. Keeping to the no traffic, side roads until I know my bike's quirks and I am confident in stop and go handling before I venture into traffic.
With the re-emergence of naked bikes, one day soon, real men will be able to bring their motors out of the false shadows of molded plastic and show their motors to the world without fear of ridicule or shame.
