New Seat or Seat Pad

The stock seat on my VStar 950 Tourer isn't what I want to sit on for more than an hour. I've seen the reviews and posts for the Mustang seat [very favorable reviews], but I also want to know if anyone has done the seat cushions/pads? I've seen a few that are rated good on their reviews and cost less than a new seat.

I used a cushion for long rides. Works for me. I can't afford to buy another seat.

I've done some research and also talked to some folks about this and the Airhawk 2 seat pad looks like a viable option but for a lot of folks trying to get the air setting just right really takes some effort. I spoke to someone who has one and after 4 months he still hasn't found the "sweet spot" for his. Then I was looking at some past topics, vintage 2006 or so, and someone mentioned they bought a Corbin seat, so I looked them up. The seats are a little cheaper than the Mustang seats, so now, has anyone got any experience/reviews for the Corbin seats?

There is also the option of having your current seat reworked. Cover gets taken off, cushion gets rebuilt, shaved as needed, you give it a try, then it's recovered. Sometimes it can be a blessing, sometimes not so much.

I was thinking about taking the stock seat and seeing if I can have it adjusted someway and I do have an auto upholsterer I've used so I will call them and see if they can do motorcycle seats. If I can't find anyone who can reupholster motorcycle seats, I'd still consider the Airpad cushion and IF I see a good price [SALE] for a Mustang or Corbin seat next spring I may go for it. If not I can always let my kids know that a new seat for my bike will make a great Father's Day present!

The thing with the Hawk: it needs about a third the air you think. It should look DEFLATED...start with it completely empty, add air until it supports you. Too much air, and you will slide around.
