@AMA Pro Flat Trackers Robinson and Shoemaker Carry Momentum from Springfield Main
ATLANTA (May 28, 2015) – Triumph riders and teams will be at two different venues this weekend racing in the MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., May 29-31, and AMA Pro Flat Track at the Sacramento Mile in Sacramento, Calif., May 30.
Bobby Fong, riding the #50 Latus Motors Racing / Castrol / Triumph Daytona 675R, is seeking consistency after he’s proven that he can run at the front of the highly competitive MotoAmerica Supersport class. Fong currently sits 11th in the standings heading into this weekend’s races at Road America and is now fully healed from an shoulder injury at the opening round in April.
“It’s been quite a rollercoaster of a season for me up to this point, but I’m hoping to put some good finishes together these next couple races,” said Bobby Fong. “The Latus Motors Racing team has done a great job giving me a competitive package, now I’ve got to get out there and do my job.”
AMA Pro Flat Track GNC1 riders Brandon Robinson, #44 Latus Motors Racing / Castrol / Triumph Bonneville, and Jake Shoemaker, #55 Bonneville Performance / Castrol / Triumph Bonneville, had strong performances at the Springfield Mile last Sunday, both qualifying for the Main in their first appearance on a Triumph machine in 2015. Robinson also posted the second fastest qualifying time earlier in the day and earned a spot in the Dash for Cash, finishing fifth.
“We had quite a few positives and I was enjoying myself on the motorcycle, but it was a little bit of a disappointment the way the day ended,” said Brandon Robinson. “Overall we have something to work with, and we’re going to be a threat come Sacramento.”
Robinson finished 17th in the Main after pulling off with a vibration issue with 4 laps remaining while Shoemaker finished 14th racing with intermittent clutch issues throughout the day. Robinson now sits 4th and Shoemaker 16th in the GNC1 points standings.
“The Bonneville Performance team and myself learned a lot working together for the first time,” said Jake Shoemaker. “It wasn’t the results that we were looking for, but we’re going to build off it for this weekend at Sacramento”
Bonneville Performance will also be supporting VETMotorsports by placing Cpl. David O., of Sacramento, onto their team as a crew member for the Sacramento round. Through Bonneville Performance and Latus Motors Racing participation in Castrol’s VETMotorsports Performance Match Fund, VETMotorsports earns bonuses from the on-track performance of these teams. To date this season, $925 has been contributed to the organization.
