DALLA PORTA DELIVERS STRONG #RACE PERFORMANCE AT MISANO #MOTO3
Team's young Ttalian rookie scores championship points for the second consecutive time
Husqvarna Factory Laglisse can come away satisfied with the team’s performance in Round 13 of the MotoGP Moto3 World Championship, with young Italian Lorenzo Dalla Porta delivering a strong race in front of his home crowd at the Misano circuit in San Marino.
The teenager, who only joined the team during the summer break, has been continually improving in form in what is a highly competitive field. Dalla Porta finished in eleventh place to pick up championship points for his second consecutive race. He has only had four starts since joining the team. The weekend was more difficult for his teammate, Spanish rider Maria Herrera who will work on getting the most out of the team’s testing in Misano on Monday.
Both riders are hoping to improve on their performance in the next round at Aragon, Spain on September 27, where Herrera will be racing in front of her home fans. Both Dalla Porta and Herrera know the Aragon circuit and have competed there in the CEV Championship, so they look forward to the next round with confidence. Both riders compete on the Husqvarna FR 250 GP.
Misano was a new track for the Spanish rider, who also incurred a five-second penalty for exceeding the track limits. The infringement involved the rider running off the designated track markings.
Lorenzo Dalla Porta 11th: "We had a good race and overall I'm very happy with the work throughout entire weekend. We were in the front group until the middle of the race but then dropped back. It is great to score points at my home circuit and I’m hoping for an even better result at Motorland Aragon, another circuit that I know.”
Maria Herrera 24th: "We knew it was going to be a difficult race because I was not very comfortable during practice. But this race was good as training for our test tomorrow, where we will try to get the bike ready for the race at Aragon. It took me some time to adapt to the new chassis and we have to regain confidence in the test. I look forward to having a good set-up for Aragon and I will be pushing for a good result.”
Team Manager Gelete Nieto: “We are very proud of the way Lorenzo raced. He fought from start to finish with highly experienced riders. I think this result will mark a turning point for him, and he has learned a lot. It was a good weekend at a circuit he knew, and now we go to Aragon, another track that is familiar to him. His aim will be to continue working this way. He is a great rider and is developing very fast. Maria had many problems this weekend but this is her debut season and there are circuits that she can easily adapt to, and others not. She has to continue to gather experience.”
The next round is at Aragon on September 27, 2015
