Q. Do you think the Inline-4 engine is in danger of going away?

Bonus: What engine type do you think will replace it?

The inline-4 motorcycle engine has been iconic since 1968 powering everything from the first CB750 all the way up to Supersports. With Yamaha dropping the engine for their affordable YZF series what's next?

K1200r, Yamaha FZ1 and Honda VFR1200F, Yamaha FJR. Kawasaki Concourse. Honda ST1300. Ducati ST series, Suzuki Hayabusa, Suzuki GS1100GL, KZ1000... there's so many great motorbikes that used this engine.

The inline-4 engine may not disappear completely in the short to medium term, but it could be replaced or partially supplanted by electric, hybrid or smaller engines (such as 3-cylinder engines) in certain vehicle categories.

As a classic power solution in the era of fuel vehicles, the inline 4-cylinder engine will not completely disappear in the short term, but its market position will gradually weaken and it will face the trend of being replaced in the long run.
