1980 suzuki gs550 starting problem

Hello,
I am having a reoccuring problem where the bike will not start,i have pod filters and a freshly cleaned carburators, the bike only starts with starting fluid for a second and then dies. I am wondering if it is too much air or if it has anything to do with the idle screw please help me get this bike running.
