Newbie, needs help

Hey, i am brand new to the motorcycle world, my friend has finally gotten me interested. Ya so i know practically nothing in regards to technical aspects, i really only know the looks and brands, as well as a very extremely brief knowledge of Motorcycles. Anyway, i am hoping to buy one eventually, so i don't want to be completely ignorant of specs and such, and just go for the one that looks best. so can anyone recommend any good sites or places to get a full in-depth knowledge of Motorcycles, everything from the Engine and how it works, to the terminology used, even how to shift the gears. any help would be great becuase i am looking to learn as much about motorcycles as i can. thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

Sign up for an MSF (or Canadian equivalent) in your area. They will teach you all you need to know about operating the controls. Once you know how to ride, what you ride is of little consequence since I don't believe there have been too many "bad" bikes made, just some with more "character" than others!

All you need to do is scroll up to the top of this page and click on the "home page" link. Virtually all the information you could ever want about motorcycles is right here at TMW. Zootech is right, by the way - take a beginning rider course. It will give you the confidence and knowledge to make the bike choice much simpler, and supply you with the skills to ride it.

Hi and welcome... Yep if you follow Zoo's advice about the MSF, you can't go wrong. Its a great experience and well worth your time.

Thanks, i didn't realize this site had the info i needed. I guess the MSF course is a good idea, and i can find out the rest here. The only hard part is finally choosing a bike, theres so many i like. but thats not for a while anyway. thanks for the help.
