carburetor rubber boots cracking
carburetor rubber boots cracking
Anybody know how to replace the two rubber boots that connect the carburetor to the engine? I have a 1984 Yamaha maxim 550 and the boots has cracks and looks like can break anytime. Are these available from any bike dealer? Pls help..
I have a 650 Maxim, and have seen replacements on ebay pretty regularly for about $110 for a new set of 4. www.bikebandit.com sells them for about $35 each. I have no idea what a dealer would ask for them.
The other thing is that these are actually pretty thick rubber, so it may not be as bad as you think.

i have fixed them with some stuff called Plasti Dip.
it comes in a spray can.you need to remove the boots and clean them with soap and water.let them dry then spray thin coat of plasti dip on them.let them dry and do it again until all cracks are filled.i got the stuff at home depot.dont cost much.
