Strines Moor, Yorkshire Dales...(ride pics!!)

#1 Unread post by Keyoke »

The other weekend, myself and my Girlfriend (Miss_C667) had a ride up North to the Yorkshire dales for a family wedding. Well, the wedding was....we'll just ignore that - the ride was bloody great though!

The Strines Moor road is one of the most technical pieces of riding I have ever had to do - hairpin bends galore followed by 50% hills, both up and down. Along with some of the best scenery this part of the country has to offer, made for a brilliant ride!

Here's the few pics i managed to force myself to stop and take..

You can just about make out the reservoir in the distance on this one...

When we finally made it back to the main road...(a well deserved ciggarette break!)

And a couple of pictures of LadyBower Dam (where Dambusters was filmed) where we stopped for a wander on the way up there...

Think this sign may be out of date?? :)

Don't give up.

Not now, not soon, not after being continually knocked down.

If you never give up, you can never truly fail.

Nice pictures. I sure hope it isn't normally that foggy over there, though!

The fog and mist look like the Washington coast vacation paradise where I live. Are you sure you're not thinking about jumping off that bridge? :)

Ah, I wish they sold that XJR here in Canada. I love the looks of that bike and having an XJR it would be nice to continue the tradition. :D

Wonderful photos, the dam is really quite neat! So many bricks! Love the "don't wash anything here" sign... 5 pounds must have been a lot in those days, today... Well, I still wouldn't WANT to pay $10 for a bath! .. unless I was really despirate THEN they can fine me after I'm clean... LOL.

One notable thing about England & Motorcycles is that you can ride your bike to the beach & if the weather permitts, you can remove your rear Number plate & go Surfing!

'Live to Surf, Freeze & Drown'. It's on the British Royal coat of arms - haven't you noticed.

But why would anyone want to surf on an unidentified motorcycle? - I'll never understand the Australian mind.

Mind you, if you are talking about Harleys, it's probably the kindest use of them. Problem with pollution though.

Hey Keyoke

:kewl:

Where is this Strines Moor place? Never heard of it - though I've spent a lot of time in the Dales. Sounds like an 'interesting' ride. Was it fun, though?

Cheers

Dick

:offtopic: BTW. What happened at the Tail Ender? Did you all go for a rideout. I've been out of the loop for a while.
