As you know, I'm currently taking the MSF course. They told us today that they sell the Buell Blasts we use in the course. The instructor said they refurbish them between each class and before they sell them. They all have less than 800 miles on them. I realize they have probably been through some rough stuff, but with them being consistently serviced, I think they are probably in pretty good shape.
What's everyone else's opinion on picking up one of these bikes to learn on?
Thanks!

A Buell Blast is an excellent learners bike and daily commuter. (I have one)
Unless you got an EXCELLENT price you want to be leary about a class bike. 95% of their life is spent at idle or in first gear. They've ALL been dropped.
Ask for a warranty (min 1 year) and to have them replace bent/straightened headlight brackets (which get bent is tipovers because they also hold the flyscreen) and any cracked turn signals and bent shift levers/pegs.
You can shop around using cycletrader, com to find other used Blasts. We got a 2002 w/168 miles on it! We've now put about 1900 miles on it. In the 2 month that it was my only bike, after I took the class, I put 1600 miles on it. Since my wife took it over, she has put way less miles on it.

I know I like my Blast...but mine was not a course-bike. Its a decent bike, good looking (once I took that ugly flyscreen off!) and fantastic gas mileage (been averaging 70).
