Wow. I'm tempted to do as they suggest and email him about "how I feel".
Maybe he should wake up and see that most motorcyclists are injured by dipshit half-aware cagers who shouldn't be qualified to operate a toaster let alone a vehicle.
I wish I hadn't read that. Anger level skyrocketed. Must calm down before mailing him.

I would like to quote my irritating, condensending, butt much of a boss by saying "People get angry at what they dont understand. Our job is to make them understand."
Perhaps all we need to do is explain to him the calibur of mistake he is making and that not all riders are wreckless Hell's Angelsjavascript:emoticon(':jerry:')

I think he's right. I don't think society should be burdened with paying your medical costs should you choose not to wear a helmet and you get into an accident.
Immediately farming out the organs probably isn't the best idea though. After all, we donorcyclists smoke hard and drink hard, so our heart lungs and liver are probably no good anyway.

Heck, he's just being sarcastic about the law. I think AMA is overreacting

Kidding!!! That sucks that you guys got attacked. I know this isn't the right thread to express that, but hey... I love a good highjack once in a while.

We're the first ones to starve
We're the first ones to die
The first ones in line for that pie in the sky
But we're always the last
When the gravy's shared out
For the worker is working when the fat cat's about

Ummm, I'm not sure, but I think he suggested it for people who aren't wearing helmets, which is to say, people who don't care enough about their own health to make sure their head doesn't split like a melon on contact.
I actually agree with that, if you aren't willing to take such a simple precaution against an accident you don't deserve treatment. Of course I think that anyone who doesn't wear a seatbelt doesn't deserve treatment either. I'm an equal opportunity Darwinist.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

ok your no better than the other guy. my decision to wear what safety gear i fill fit to wear is my concern, not yours. if someone suggested anyone not wearing top of the line full leather should be in the same boat wouldnt go over that big.
what next, maybe an inspection of tires, surely someone that doesnt have a great amount of tred on a tire doesnt care about their safety and should be left to die right. how about anyone that has gone over the speed limit, obvious display of wrekless care for their life, and dont tell me you havent once been over the speed limit.
we are all out there on the bikes we cant sepereate ourselfs against this sort of thing, if one motorcyclists condemns another it makes it easy for guys like that to do it.
id like to know the guys thoughts on some other things. like what if a child is on a bicycle and is hit with no helmet should he be left to die. people in convertibles are at high risk of head injury. people not wearing seatbelts, without air bags.
what about all these other situations. you cant draw a simple line and say a motorcyclists with no helmet should be left to die. what if the person has a helmet and due to a malfunction of the helmet it is thrown off before impact and the rider suffers a head injury should he be refused treatment?
