Suzuki Savage Electrics

:frusty:
Got a '95 650 savage, engine blew. Got a mate to get an engine from a breakers and fit it for me. He managed to smash the coil in the process! He got a new coil - wrong one - blew the CDI unit! He got a CDI unit from the breakers where he got the engine, it was different to the one I had, this one had more connections than mine. He rebuilt mine using bits from an FZR or something. All back together, now the engine will only go upto half revs! Ticks over fine, and runs sweet upto half revs. It's definately electrical, because I can hear the excess fuel exploding through the exhaust when you open the throttle past half revs. Ex - friend now not interested. HELP!!!
Is it possible thaty he has repaired the CDI unit wrong, or is the new engine from a different / later model that needs a different CDi unit? How do I tell? What do I do about it?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!

You're gonna have to get the correct CDI unit. It sounds like maybe the one you have now is hitting the rev-limiter too early or something.
