firs i am looking at starting to ride. i wanted a gs500 or ninja 500, but because of financial reasons i cant do that now. now my question is, i am considering buying a ninja 250 to learn on. is this too weak of a bike for what i need? i want to eventually trade up but i dont want something that is too weak. you know what i mean? second, i am unable to take an msf cours until feb. is hard to learn how to ride without it? can you just figure it out driving around by yourself? sorry if these are dumb but it is what i face. thanks in advance for any replies.

You didn't say what kind of riding you'll be doing, or give a self description so it's sort of hard to say if it will be too weak a bike for what you need. However, I'm told it's a great bike to learn on.

I'm not a sport bike guy, but by all accounts I've read of people who have owned them, the ninja 250 is a great starter bike.

I have seen a good couple dozen riders, varying from new riders to riders with over 20 years street riding experience combined with ProStar, AMA and NHRA motorcycle licenses/endorsements/certificates. Out of these riders, I can think of just two or three who can properly take a Ninja 250 to its limits on the streets. From this I can sincerely state I believe a Ninja 250 is a great starter sports bike. The other factors such as cheap purchase price, cheap insurance and cheap parts are just bonuses.
