Perforated Equipment

#1 Unread post by JDawg117 »

I've seen several brands of jackets and gloves and such that have a special classification of a product by adding "perforated" in the title. I know "perforated" means to puncture or punch a hole in, but what exactly does it mean when a jacket or pair of gloves is perforated?

Means it has a lot of holes in it to allow air flow.

Good for those warm, summer days.

Or if you're from south Texas, those warm, winter days, too.

Okay, thanks for that. Now I pose another question... Does the perforation degrade the quality and/or protection of the leather?

I would think so to some degree.

Find a paper bag and try to rip it apart by grabbing both sides and just pulling as hard as you can.

Hard to do isn't it? Now put a slight tear and try it again. Goes a lot easier, right?

Now find another one and put a hole in it, same concept as the tear, it'll rip a lot easier. Now poke a smaller hole with a pin.

It won't rip quite as easily as the larger hole, but won't stand up as hardily as with no hole.

I would assume the jacket would follow the same trend.
