My little next door neighbour had a daughter, and that daughter loved her fish.

Sometimes in the summer she would take the fish bowl outside with her and talk to the fish, play with the fish.

Then one day I went out and she was crying. Being neighbourly I leaned over the fence to ask her what was wrong.

"My fish is dead" she told me shoveling some earth into a grave.

I went blank for a minute and lacking anything tactful said "thats a pretty big grave you've dug there, have you buried your fish in anything?"

Sniffing the child looked up to me from that little sad grave and said

"Yes, your cat."
