Who likes to ride in the fog?

Okay, call me nuts, but I rode home from my folk's house tonight in the fog, and I actually enjoyed the ride. My wife took the minivan with the kids, and I took the bike. I rode it over this morning so I could take my wife for a ride while my parents watched the kids for us.

My wife was long overdue for a ride, since she used to love riding with me. She hadn't been on a bike with me since the birth of our oldest though, more than six years ago. So she got her ride, and was grinning from ear to ear.

After we ate dinner and I helped a neighbor kid finish his botched lift-kit installation on his Toyota, we decided to head back home. The temp was about 40 degrees F and as soon as we hit the highway the fog set in. My face shield was totally useless, so I rode the rest of the way (about 12 miles) home with it up. Did you know that human eyeballs can fog up? I had to blink rapidly to see. Luckily I was following my wife in her kid-hauler, so I had the red streaks of her tailights to guide me. Funny thing is, I loved every minute of the ride.

I was cold, wet, couldn't see a thing and having the time of my life. There is no more perfect form of transportation on earth than a motorcycle.

I have never ridden in thick fog. Strikes me that is would be somewhat erie....

I have to admit I've had my own suspicions about just what sort of chemicals might find themselves in my food, but that aside - the fog wasn't all that thick, just heavy. Like wet heavy. There are as many different variations of fog as there are variations of snow, I guess. This particular variation was a joy to ride in.

Of course, spending three months away from anything remotely related to a motorcycle could have something to do with the fact that I like a nice ride in the fog, but who am I to speculate?

go to the smoky mountains some night and get on top of a mountain then let the fog roll in and try to get to the bottom of that mountain without any red tail lights to follow.

Coldest ride I've ever had was a foggy ride...I mean I was chilled to the bone...

Got off the bike, and I was shivering for 3 hours thereafter.

I've never ridden in a fog before, but I did ride home one night on a cold, damp night where the moisture wouldn't evaporate from my face shield even when it was wide open. I know what you mean about eyeballs fogging up.

The only thing i hate about wet is the hour and a half cleaning of the miles of chrome that are on my bike!

We get lots of fog out here around the creeks, so I get to ride in it a lot. I think it's awesome too, seems that you are just flying through clouds.

I love one of the rides I took in the fall that went through hills. Clear at the top and fog at the bottom. It was great rolling down into the fog and feeling the temp drop 10 degrees then rising out of it and warming up before doing it all over again. It's like when your a kid and you go to the hot tub, jump in the pool, then jump back in the hot tub and into the pool over and over again.

I don't think I'd want to ride in thick fog unless I really knew a road well. Even then I'd have reservations. Not seeing that hairpin turn would really suck.

I've never tried the fog too much, I do like riding fast in the rain though. Here is a small clip I took one day when it began to rain while I was on my way home from a group ride.
