NY motorcycle show

#1 Unread post by Crovello »

I live in Massachusetts and was thinking of taking the train into NY to go to the International Motorcycle show on Jan 21. Is that show worth the trip? There are a few venders on the vender list that I would like to see.

I am also getting ready to purchase a new bike and figured it would be a chance to take one last look at the other bikes I was considering.

I see some of the members of this forum are from NY and thought they might have some input.

Thanks

Dave

Welcome. I think it's definitely worth the trip. What type of bike are you looking at buying btw?

I was looking at a Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe. The one I have my eye on is a 2005 modle. I liked the black and red color combo. They will not have that color this year, but I know of two dealers that have 05 left on the floor. I keep dropping in to see if they have any good deals on them since they are 05 modles but no luck yet. I don't want to wait much longer because if they are sold I will not be able to get the color.

Other modles I have been looking at
Kawasaki, Nomad
Suzuki, C90T
HD, Road King

I liked the fact that the windshield and back rest have quick release hardware. It is almost like having two bikes.

I'm looking for a Yamaha as well, but won't be making that purchase until next year. I have noticed that the previous year's models are often cleared for a good priceout by the sales staff at the Vancouver M/C show.

eg. A 2004 RoyalStar Midnight Venture went for $19,000 instead of it's listed $22,000 (Canadian). So it doesn't hurt to go look at the new while shopping for the old.....

I would just wait till spring and see if they would deal then but there are not many of the 2005 red and black modles left. I like the midnight version but not as much as the two tone. Perhaps they know that and that is why they are not willing to deal.
