Painting Downpipes

#1 Unread post by Tank Slapper »

Hi everyone, I`m looking to re-paint the downpipes as they are more grey than black when new, I know that I`ll need some sort of high temp paint but Halfords has HTP ( 450C) and Extra High Temp (650C) are either resistant enough? Do I need anything else for example rust primer and have you any tips to make the job easier?

Thank you

I used 1200 (or 1500, I forget) degree spray exhaust paint from Wal mart. It was in automotive, and claims to have ceramic in it. I sanded and then painted. As it cured with the heat, it got hard and shiney, just like it said it would.
Ride safe...God bless!

Hi ron, thanks for the feed back. Unfortunately we don`t have WalMart here :( and I presume that the 1200 or 1500 are Fahrenheit so any High Temp paint of 650 - 820 Celsius which is for automotive use would be useable?
