What a great weekend .....

#1 Unread post by Wizzard »

Well , the weekend started on Friday morning . We have so many bikes built that we are having to make work . Nah , I don't think so . Time means more to me than that . My time , that is .
Anyway for over a year now I have been looking for a VeeDub Bus and last Wednesday I found out some friends of ours were going to finally sell her van . She either bought it in 72 or 75 , I'll have to get that straight one of these days , it is a 71 Bay Window bus . So after leaving work after being clocked in for a whole 15 minutes . I went out and started hustling my Camaro off . By the afternoon I had it sold and went over and bartered on the bus .
Ending up getting it for $300 less than the asking price ......... :D
Leaving me to be the 3rd owner and it is in almost pristine condition .
Of course I've already started dialing it in and I will post some pics someday soon . After I get it looking a little more like the '60s...............
I know , I know , that this is a bike forum , however this is the soapbox and it's all fair game to me anyway .
Needless to say I am really jazzed .
Cause ya see , this is gonna be my last cage and with only 3000 miles on a rebuilt motor ...............ya , you do the math.........
Kind regards, Wizzard

Congrats. I've been trying to find an IRS beetle for awhile since my 73 took a dodge intrepid to the door almost 2 years ago. My 73 just acts as a storage container for a 1776 with about 3k miles on it (I put a built 1776 in it shortly after I bought it).

My 73 beetle is sitting in the garage waiting for a new beetle to replace it.

Beetles in good shape are hard to come by around here, unless you want to spend a small fortune.

Hey Tech which porsche engine is going in your westy? Is it just the type 4 or is it an actual 911 6 cylinder

That's funny cause I call mine "Da Magic Bus"...........
So far I have installed a new fuel pump , fan belt , all new lamp bulbs and fuses . Set the valves and adjusted the carb more to my liking . I also cut up a Persian rug and carpeted it . Eliminated the center back seat and kept the one at the extreme rear .
This weekend I am going to polish it out and wax it .
Gonna have to lower the front end as soon as I can find an economical way to do it .
Regards, Wizzard
