My wifes first time out/my first group ride
Well had 2 firsts today. Today was my wifes first time on a bike, and my first time riding with another bike.
My wifes cousin came by around lunch time on her bike ('03 road king). we ended up going out riding most of the afternoon. My wife got to be a passenger for the first time (she rode pillion on the road king). First stop was helmet shopping for my wife, she is now the proud owner of a nice Z1R stance Full face.
After helmet shopping we stopped for lunch and then spent several hours just cruising around. My wife had an absolute blast even just riding pillion.
I also learned that on a 500 you need to get on it pretty good to keep up with a 1450cc bike. I am definately going to be wanting a faster bike by summer.
At least my 500 was able to keep up when turning.
My wife is definately interested in learning to ride herself now.

Words of wisdom ITT.Well, if you are gonna step up to something bigger soon, then maybe the wife would like the 500cc bike..... no?
"Honey! Honey! I just got a great idea!"
Or if she ever mentions an interest in getting a bike, slyly slip in "well, I've been thinking..."
Have fun on the open /¦\

I know, I was surprised too.

I would have to lower my CX for her to be able to ride it. Its a decidedly tall and top heavy bike.
Im looking for a 600-1000cc standard for my next bike. SV650 is out unless the shifter can be adjusted, 599 is not too bad, have yet to try a FZ6/FZ1, 919, or speed triple, both bandits are pretty comfy though most bandit owners I have asked say go straight for the 1200.
I am mostly interested in either a 919, bandit 1200 or speed triple. I need to sit on a 919 and speed triple to see how well they fit me, both 600 and 1200 bandits fit me pretty well.

Add the FZ-1 to that list and it's my 'realistic short list' if I have a major meltdown this year and buy a new bike. Every time I look outside at the snow, I melt just a bit more......jmillheiser wrote: I am mostly interested in either a 919, bandit 1200 or speed triple. I haven't ridden any of them yet, but I have sat on them. I plan on test riding them all this summer, and the MT-01 and Buell.... Man, I hate winter.
Of those bikes, the 919 felt the best to me, stock. But a 'bar change could change that with the FZ.... or that triple....
If Honda would price that bike where it should be, they would sell every one they could make. It's $2500-3000 too much right now, and for no good reason. It's built with paid-for tooling from previous super-sports, uses less costly components than the other makes... I just can't figure how they arrive at such a price...?
Even still, if I found a good deal on a new or not-very-used 919, I might flatline the old brainwaves and buy it.......
No Witnesses....

I'm not really sure why the 599 and 919 cost so much, but I thought it was well worth the cost when I bought mine. No regrets here
You'll have to let me know when you start test riding, I'll be there too.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
