Soon to be new acquisition VF700F

#1 Unread post by DivideOverflow »

It is pretty much final, next weekend I'm going to be picking up my brand spanking new (to me):
1984 Honda Interceptor VF700F !!!
Blue & White
Cobra slip ons, mid fairings, New tire, Sargent seat (very comfy!)
18.6K miles
No leaks! Forks were recently worked on.

I rode it today, and I am totally sold! The guy had both the 700, and the 750, both of which I took a spin on. It was honestly the most fun I've had on a motorcycle thus far. It started right up, idled perfectly...sounded great! The 750 had quite a bit more spunk in the midrange (had a full Kerker exhast, plus it has a longer stroke, and 10 more horsepower stock).. but the 700 is perfect for me!
81 hp, 44.8 ft-lbs (claimed from the factory, I read something like 66 rwhp and 40 actual ft-lbs when dynoed though)

The riding position was almost perfect! It was what I like to call a "sporty standard" seating position. A little leaned forward, but not enough to put pressure on your arms if you dont want to. But if you do want to lean over, it definitely is easy to do so!
Here is a pic of the bike:

I know there are some magna owners on the board. Have any of you guys done the top end oiling mod? If so, could you give me details on which one you used. Thanks.

Oooo, nice bike.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I'm getting it for $1800. I'd say that is a fair deal due to the age and condition.

I've been researching these things like crazy... I feel pretty confident I will be able to handle any little isues that might pop up. ;)
Clymer manuals are my friend.

That's a very cool bike. You sure won't be part of the "me too" crowd.
