It is a plastic square. Three of the sides stay in place on the forth one opens. Inside the square are plastic, rigid brushes. On the outside of the box is a little hole to squirt lube in through a tube. It is a small box, just big enough for a chain to fit through. It has a tie down so you can open the box, slip it over the chain, tie it down, and if you have it on a stand, a couple spins around the chain is clean. You do have to clean the box after though, but it does a great job on my chain every couple thousand miles.

im not quite sure i get how it works but i'll just ask this...

can i use it w/o a rear stand?

im not quite sure i get how it works but i'll just ask this...

can i use it w/o a rear stand?

Check out the review ^^^ I don't think you can, you have to be able to move the rear wheel so that the chain moves, and I don't suggest using the throttle to turn the rear wheel.

You could, but I think it is better with a rear stand. Otherwise you have to spray and roll and spray more and roll until the chain looks clean. With your bike, you need to invest in a rear stand (and maybe front).

Picture the chain on your bike. Now imagine reaching in and wrapping your fist around the chain. Now imagine inside the palm of your hand you have a bristles. Now, image you feed a hose between your fingers and feed lube in from a spray can. That is how the tool works. It wraps around the chain with a brush on the inside. You spray lube in and it breaks down the gunk and cleans the chain.

Not really. You don't need a stand or centerstand for cleaning and lubing the chain. Matter of fact, I just got done cleaning my 599's chain and sprockets (both sprockets) without a stand. Granted it's more of a pain in the bum to do, but it's certainly cheaper than a set of stands. It was REALLY messy, stupid construction made my bike filthy.

I prefer a gallon container of diesel, an old toothbrush and some Simple Green for cleanup. Works great, cheaper than chain cleaner like Moose Sludge-Away and smells great.

yes yes... i agree i need stands.

and that looks like a nifty product... sorry if i missed it but what's it called and got a link to a good price for it?

this is the stand i'll order...

$110 for both front and rear.

then i'll order this as well...

just kidding.
