There's an MSF class at the college I went to for a little while, so I will definitely get into that.

I have heard that a 600RR would be a good bike to learn on, but there are a lot of local Yamahas that are pretty affordable...I just need something that would be good for a first timer. :)

the 600RR is not an ideal newbie bike.

some people even stay on the 600cc class. it's already a great bike for both the streets and race track.

anyway... good luck to you whatever you decide.

Taking the MSF Class: GREAT idea

Getting a 600RR to learn on: BAD idea

You'll hear it from anyone who really cares about you not to get a 600cc or larger sportbike as your first bike. The engine sounds small, but the power to weight ratio is HUGE. If you love the look of a 600cc sportbike, get the Suzuki GS500F. Even at 500cc I'd call it an "Advanced trainer" but then some people stick and love the 250-500cc class for years. As VermilionX suggested, a 600RR is not an ideal newbie bike, but would make an "ok" 2nd or great 3rd+ bike if that's what you want.

Thanks for the help...this is just going by what a few ppl have told me. I don't want anything too fast for a first bike.
