Should this be something open to families? If not, those of us with kids (and without a three-day babysitter) would have to split up as parents, only allowing one to attend. I realize that's more of an individual problem, but I was just curious what the thoughts were on this.
Maybe find a camping area close to canoeing or other activities that could be done as a group (if there's an interest).
Cheers,
Loonette

Probably something to be decided on a region-by-region basis. Personally, I don't mind kids. I won't be bringing my own, but I don't mind if others do. I know that would also make it easier for both t_bonee and RNrider to attend as well. It is certainly something to be taken into consideration for activity planning and campground ammenities, though. What may suit a biker may not be much of a thrill for kids. I don't know......but we have time to kick it around, so kick away!
Anyway, I have 2 spare bedrooms if anyone feels like visiting southern Europe!! Direct (return) flights from Philly to Rome are in the $800 range ...
The Dragon is a blast ... but can't hold a candle to the Amalfi Coast here near Napoli, or the Croatian coastal road on the Adriatic!

I'm not quite sure I'd be ready to brave Italian traffic on a bike.... I understand they can be a little psychotic... of course I'm hearing this secondhand, so it could just be bull

I think on the "kid issue" we need to see what develops. If we are going somewhere for a couple days and we will have a "camp" established, I think that might be fine. Some "rallys" might be much less formal though, and maybe even just a ride - like a one day thing. These are good things to think about though. I lean towards the riding weekend with a base camp idea. That way if the numbers are big enough, people will have options for riding when they want as small groups, alone, or with the whole group. Also if non-riders (family, friends, etc) wanted to come they could hold down the fort.

Typical meet was get together for breakfast, head out to the show, ride to someone's place afterwords for a BBQ or something like that. The "Local" would coordinate for either motel rooms or make room in his/her living room for sleeping bags, whatnot.
Good Times!
Unfortunately, these shows are in fall/winter, so often we'd go by car ... unless the show was in the south (Like Atlanta.) Still a good thing to do though, especially if you've never been to a show.

I'm thinking some time in the summer, and away from any other events. Best case scenario would be a weekend where there would be chances to ride together and chances to just hang out off the bike too. If we are near a national momument, or a beach, we would also have time for that too.
